Product Description
Torx drive thread-forming screws create a mating thread as they are installed into a correctly designed pilot hole in a compatible plastic boss. They can eliminate the need for a separate nut or pre-tapped metal thread in suitable assemblies.
The six-lobe drive supports efficient torque transfer and helps reduce driver cam-out. The plastic-specific thread profile, rather than the drive recess, controls how the screw engages and displaces the plastic.
Performance depends on the plastic resin, filler content, boss design, wall thickness, pilot-hole diameter, thread engagement, installation speed and tightening torque.
