Hex socket set screw, also known as grub screw or blind screw, is a headless fully threaded fastener designed for positioning, locking and anti-loosening between mechanical components. Its fully recessed drive design leaves no protruding head after installation, maintaining a flush and clean assembly surface, making it ideal for narrow space installations and applications where surface flatness is required.

The internal hex drive delivers higher tightening torque than slotted or cross drive designs, effectively reducing the risk of drive stripping during installation. Full thread distribution ensures even stress across the entire screw body, and the precision machined end point acts directly on the mating workpiece surface to secure radial positioning of shafts, gears, pulleys and other rotating parts.

Point Type Selection Guide

We supply 7 standard end point styles to match different working conditions and assembly requirements:

Cup Point (DIN 916): The most widely used standard type. The concave annular edge bites into the workpiece surface to create strong holding friction, suitable for general metal workpiece positioning, automation equipment assembly and daily mechanical locking.
Flat Point (DIN 913): Smooth flat end with large contact area, does not scratch or indent the mating surface during tightening. Recommended for thin-wall materials, soft metals like aluminum and copper, and structures that require frequent position adjustment.
Cone Point (DIN 914): Tapered end with self-centering function, can embed into pre-drilled dimples for high precision positioning. Suitable for hard steel workpieces, calibration instruments and transmission parts that need regular disassembly and adjustment.
Dog Point (DIN 915): Cylindrical pilot end fits into pre-drilled locating holes to prevent radial displacement of shafts and pulleys. Commonly used for gear assembly, bearing housing fixation and belt wheel positioning.
Nylon Tip: Inlaid high-temperature resistant nylon column at the end. The soft nylon material protects delicate workpiece surfaces from scratches and provides extra damping anti-loosening effect, perfect for precision electronics, medical devices, glass components and plastic housings.
Ball Point: Spherical contact surface adapts to inclined and irregular workpiece surfaces, designed for special fixtures and non-planar locking positions in non-standard equipment.
Slotted Drive: Compatible with flat blade screwdrivers, suitable for narrow assembly spaces where hex wrenches cannot reach, often used in small instruments and internal meter components.

All standard models comply with DIN 913, DIN 914, DIN 915, DIN 916 and DIN 551 German standards, and also meet ISO 4026 to ISO 4029 international specifications. Coarse thread is provided by default, and fine pitch threads are available upon custom request. Thread tolerance is strictly controlled at 4H/5H grade to ensure smooth fit with standard pre-tapped holes.

Material & Surface Finish Catalog

We source raw materials from qualified domestic steel mills with traceable material certificates for each batch:

304 Stainless Steel Good rust and corrosion resistance, suitable for general indoor and outdoor industrial environments, daily machinery and electronic equipment. Passivated finish provides 48 hours of salt spray resistance.
316 Stainless Steel Superior acid, alkali and salt water resistance, designed for marine equipment, chemical machinery, food processing lines and harsh outdoor environments.
H62 Brass Excellent electrical conductivity and non-magnetic property, widely used in electronic components, communication equipment and precision instrument parts.
Medium Carbon Steel (Grade 4.8 / 8.8 / 12.9) High tensile strength and surface hardness, for heavy load machinery, automotive power parts and high-strength fastening scenarios.

Available surface finishes include natural passivation, black oxide, white / blue / color zinc plating, nickel plating and mechanical polishing. Black oxide carbon steel passes 72 hours salt spray test, and nickel plated products reach 120 hours.

Custom Manufacturing Capabilities

Custom options include special lengths, non-standard thread pitches, mixed materials, unique point designs and special drive types. For sizes with existing molds, custom samples can be ready in 5 to 7 days; for brand new specifications, new mold development takes 10 to 15 days. Production & Quality Control Standards

All set screws are formed in one piece by automatic cold heading process, and threads are processed by high-precision thread rolling technology, ensuring smooth thread surface, accurate pitch and improved thread strength. Our production line is equipped with 22 sets of automatic cold heading machines and 18 thread rolling machines, with a daily output of 1.3 million pieces. We maintain over 850 sets of ready-made molds for conventional sizes to shorten lead times.

We implement a three-stage quality inspection system throughout production: incoming material inspection verifies material composition and hardness, in-process patrol inspection checks dimensions and surface defects every 2 hours, and finished products go through full go/no-go gauge testing and automatic appearance sorting. Our in-house lab is equipped with salt spray testers, Rockwell hardness testers and vision measuring machines to verify product performance before delivery.
