Why Sealing Screws May Still Leak
Incorrect O-Ring Compression
Insufficient compression may result in an incomplete seal, while excessive compression may damage or permanently deform the O-ring.
Incompatible O-Ring Material
The wrong elastomer may swell, harden, crack or lose elasticity after exposure to oil, chemicals, heat or outdoor conditions.
Uneven Mating Surface
Scratches, burrs, gaps or uneven contact surfaces can prevent uniform sealing beneath the screw head.
Incorrect Installation Torque
Low torque may not compress the O-ring sufficiently. Excessive torque may crush the O-ring, damage the thread or deform the mating part.
Incorrect Head or Groove Geometry
The sealing area must provide enough space to retain and compress the O-ring without forcing it out of position.
